    Snow

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 29, 2007, 8:33 AM

    Finaly!
I wake up today look out the window and what do i see – snow!
Lots and lots of snow. Everything was coverd with the stuff all the trees, cars ect.
I have been waiting for some snow like this for a long time. We had this snow/rain stuff all the time wet snow in the evening and rain during the day.
The only bad thing with this was that i had to dig my car out, there was 4 inches of snow on it.
I wish i had my camera today but it's in the shop for some maintenance.

    Snow:
A type of precipitation in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall from clouds. Since snow is composed of small ice particles, it is a granular material. It has an open and therefore soft structure, unless packed by external pressure.

A snowflake is an aggregate of ice crystal that forms while falling in and below a cloud. They are typically hexagonally symmetrical.

    Records:
The highest seasonal total snowfall ever measured was at Mount Baker Ski Area, outside of Bellingham, Washington in the United States during the 1998–1999 season.
Mount Baker received 1,140 inches (29 m) of snow, thus surpassing the previous record holder, Mount Rainier, Washington, which during the 1971–1972 season received 1,122 in. (28.5 m) of snow.
Guinness World Records list the world’s largest snowflakes as those of January 1887 at Fort Keogh, Montana;. allegedly one measured 15 inches (38 cm) wide.

    Autumn Begins

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 23, 2007, 12:00 PM

    Autumn started today!

Autumn (also known as fall in North American English) is one of the four temperate seasons. Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter. In the northern hemisphere, the start of autumn is generally considered to be September 21 and in the southern hemisphere, its beginning is considered to be March 21.

Around this time, deciduous trees shed their leaves. The leaves of the trees change their color to a reddish hue prior to falling. Such colored leaves have come to be colloquially called "fall foliage". In the temperate zones, autumn is the season during which most crops are harvested, and deciduous trees lose their leaves. It is also the season during which days get shorter and cooler, the nights get longer, and precipitation gradually increases (in some parts of the world).

The word 'autumn' is derived from the French word automne, and became popular in usage for the season since the 16th century. The North American name for the season, 'fall', probably derived as a contraction of the phrase "fall of the leaves", and since became used interchangeably.

Lets go out and take some colourful shots
